For second time in six weeks I've attended the CT/MRI department as an outpatient and can only praise the staff and organisation. Both times I arrived early and was welcomed by a friendly receptionist and was taken for my scans (CT then MRIs) within minutes of arrival. The staff (radiographers) explained the procedures, took me through a checklist related to Health and Safety of the procedures then installed me on the bed of the machines. At all times they had regard for my comfort and any questions or anxieties I might have had. In the case of the MRIs (two scans) I was made aware of the noise that was likely to be experienced - ear plugs supplied. The whole procedure of the MRIs took about 45 minutes - at each segment of the process I was told how long it would last and was asked about my comfort etc before commencing the next segment.
All in all, concern for myself as the patient was paramount among the staff. Well done RAH. (Should add my experience of being prior assessed in the Department of Geriatric Medicine was equally positive).
