"Kept waiting for five hours"

About: York Hospital / Cardiology

I was referred to this hospital by my gp worried about my atrial fibrillation. On my admission I was sent to a ward and told to sit in a chair and wait until I could be seen. This was no doubt a device to evade waiting time in a and e.I waited for five hours. The Ward was chaotic. One patient was clearly demented, shouting and screaming.Nonetheless he was apparently being discharged. No one came to see me,neither a nurse, doctor or consultant.Eventually I got up,spoke to a nurse and said I was discharging myself which I did and sought treatment from the Nuffield..

This hospital is a disgrace.I only write now because my brother is undergoing a not dissimilar experience in another hospital which has brought back one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life.My only regret is that I did not complain at the time
