"Massive nosebleed - Visit to A&E 29/01/2018"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital / Accident and emergency

Arrived at A&E1300hrs with wife having massive nosebleed. ENT consultant, who we had been visiting for several weeks because of nosebleeds, did not have facilities to handle. Within 45 minutes of arrival, seen by Streaming Unit who gave excellent advice as to how to stem bleeding even if only temporarily, 45 minutes later passed through to A&E Major ward where we were seen within 1/2hr by young lady doctor who examined my wife and returned to cauterise the left nostril. This she did, and then said she would take blood test to, amongst other things, test haemoglobin levels. She advised the result would not be available for an hour, so we could go home if we so chose. We opted to wait. She returned +/- 1hr later and said all OK. We went home.

Today we kept appointment with ENT consulatant. She examined my wife and said repeatedly how impressed she was with the cauterisation performed by the young doctor. Praise indeed.

We were overall most impressed with the treatment provided and with the way we were treated throughout.
