"Made me feel worse"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Dermatology (Skin Conditions)

(as the patient),

I had an appointment with a consultant dermatologist regarding the horrific state of my skin, in the Queen University Hospital. As a young girl, this affects my confidence and makes me feel gross. During my appointment, my Dr made me feel 100 times worse.

When I first walked into the room I was told off for not having my medication of creams and lotions with me (or even a note to say what these were). As I was referred from my doctor I assumed they would have sent a list of these to the consultant. Also, nowhere on my appointment letter was there any mention to bring them, or else I would have.

When asked what lotions and creams I had been prescribed, I was unable to name but a few, as many a cream have been recommended for me to try. I was then told by the Dr that their child would be able to name all the creams they were on. Maybe cause their parent is a dermatologist?

I did not appreciate being treated like an idiot as I tried everything in my power to help my condition, as I was made to feel like I was trying my best to make it worse.

I would expect professional behaviour from any Dr, never mind a Consultant, which I did not receive. I did not feel like I was there to be helped, only to be belittled and made to feel like a child.

I am aware this is just an issue with this one Dr, as all of my other visits for my patch testing the Drs and nurses have been nothing but super helpful and friendly.
