I went to A+E at Queens Burton about 9pm as I felt very unwell, hot, breathless and pain around left lung. The antibiotics for a chest infection which I had been prescribed seemed to be having little effect, in fact I felt worse!
The receptionist was friendly and booked me in quickly and soon I was seen by a lovely nurse. She was very thorough and even did an ECG and took bloods, inserting a canula to avoid another needle.
I was then sent to X-ray with the nurse pointing out the route. The X-ray was quick and efficiently done and I had to return to A+ E. My husband and I were just about to get lost when the nurse appeared and guided us to bay 10 where a couch was waiting. Obs were taken and soon a lovely doctor appeared. Like the nurse he really put me at my ease and I felt safe.
I was treated with courtesy and professionalism. He talked me through blood results and X-ray and prescribed a further antibiotic to be taken alongside amoxycillin. At the time I was unable to provide a sample of sputum and have still failed. We arrived about 9pm and left at 11.30, how brilliant was that. I still feel very rough but am confident there will be an upturn soon.
I would so like these people to receive praise for their work. Thank you.
