About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Urology

Had an appointment for a template prostate biopsy, booked for 07.30. Was eventually prepared for theatre at 10.00.

Fantastic anaesthetist, great theatre staff, wonderfully accurate surgeon, all of whose efforts meant that I was cleared to go home by the surgeon around 14.00. Except later a finicky nurse and a very junior doctor said I was not fit to leave, and should stay overnight. I know they were looking after my best interests, but I knew how I felt.

So I discharged myself around 16.00

I was pleased to read your praise for the members of staff who cared for you. However, I was sorry to hear that you had felt you needed to discharge yourself after you were asked to stay in hospital as a precaution by a doctor in training and one of our nurses.

I am sure that they will have taken this decision in your best interests.
