"Children’s A&E"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

We’ve had to visit A&E 3 times this week and I can’t fault this hospital and staff for it’s amazing care and treatment of my sons.

Firstly we visited on advice from 111 after my toddler had a fall and banged his head. We were seen promptly by 2 lively nurses who assessed him and calmed/ distracted him with bubbles! Then we were quickly seen by an excellent doctor who was absolutely lovely with him and checked him both thoroughly and promptly reassuring us along the way.

Two days later he was having difficulty breathing after an ongoing viral chest infection and was taken in by ambulance, very scary but again the amazing staff worked as a team to assess, treat and reassure him and me before admitting him for observation. The ward was clean, comfortable and the staff couldn’t do enough to help us, really lovely nurses, HCA & Doctors.

On friday we had to take my older son on referral from GP due to an unusual rash which they couldn’t identify, again we were seen very quickly by a lovely doctor and registrar who were friendly, reassuring and professional.

We are so thankful to everyone who has helped us this week and feel that this is a fantastic hospital. Also had both of my children here 3 years apart and found maternity services and staff to be absolutely fantastic too. Well done Leicester Royal for doing so well despite the terrible cuts to the NHS!

Dear Laura,

Thank you for taking the time out to leave a review of the Accident and Emergency services at Leicester Royal Infirmary. While we are sorry to hear that you had to visit us on three separate occasions in a week, we are pleased to hear that each experience was a positive one. We hope that your sons are feeling better and we’d like to wish you all the best. We will pass your kind comments onto the A&E team so they can be circulated to the member of staff involved in your care.

Kind regards,

Communications Team
