Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on our Maternity services at the RVI. We wish to apologise for the wait you recently experienced in the antenatal clinic. It is not possible to know the reasons for your wait with the level of information provided, however we would have expected that an explanation and apology for the wait was provided to you when you were seen by staff and wish to further apologise that this did not happen.

The antenatal clinic frequently has a number of clinics running at the same time and, consequently, there are often several women waiting together, to attend different clinics, including ultrasound scans, specialist midwifery clinics and consultant clinics, and this is most likely the reason why women appeared to be seen “out of turn”.

We will share these comments with clinic staff, so they can consider how they might more clearly communicate with women attending the clinic, and continue to look at ways to further improve services. However if you would like someone to further look into your concerns, please contact the Patient Relations Department on patient.relations@nuth.nhs.uk with further information regarding your visit and they will be able to coordinate an investigation with the department.
