(as a service user),

Having had a traumatic antenatal and postnatal depression/anxiety experience with my first child I was petrified to develop the condition again with my second attempt at motherhood. I became vigilant at working to build a robust support system to help protect myself and my family  against m this devastating condition. After speaking to my GP I was referred to the Hammersmith & Fulham Perinatal Mental Health Team... I began working with my Perinatal Mental Health nurse, Fungai when I was a few months pregnant. Fungai provided me with different resources including a 24 hour support hotline, which I did use during a difficult mental and emotional post birth dip. Fungai quickly became a key member of my support system that I took into PND battle with me, We met regularly  for her to observe my progress through the pregnancy followed by frequent home visits postnatally. I felt completely comfortable to speak (and cry) openly as we worked together to address any concerns I had as my path through welcoming our second baby girl progressed. I am happy to re[port that despite a few wobbles I never did develop PND this time around and Fungai played a major part in that for me. Thank you Fungai!

We are glad things worked out better this time around and Fungai was able to be a crucial part of your support system; she has been made aware of your feedback and is pleased to have provided beneficial intervention.

The perinatal period is such a crucial transitioning time for women and its heartening to hear that you received the right support for you which has made significant difference to your experience the second time around.

We will continue to support women in this period to the best of our ability and ensure consistency across the service as a whole.
