I have to confirm the findings of a previous reviewer, having first walked into the old general A&E and been told to go across the road to the adult version I couldn't believe the difference. The larger children's section was empty save for staff leaning on walls chatting and receptionists (2) very happy and polite. The adult's side was crammed to bursting and when I spoke to the receptionist (only 1), thinking I had to book in, I was told in no uncertain terms just to take a number and wait!!
Luckily my husband and I are able bodied so we had parked in O/P and walked as there was an impossibly long queue just to get into the A&E car park, not sure what the elderly or infirm are supposed to do.
I have visited this hospital's A&E on 2 previous occasions and found it perfectly acceptable; this visit has shaken my faith in the NHS. I appreciate that children often need prioritising but there has got to be a better division than this. I went elsewhere.
