I have always been under the Royal Orthopaedic for all my 'ailments' with my bones. So when I was referred to a surgeon at the Alex I was apprehensive, due to all those reports heard of in the past.
I went to all the meetings before my op, where everything was explained and where blood tests were carried out and equipment ordered and delivered.
When the big day came to have my knee replaced, everything went like clockwork.
I had a spinal block and all the aneasthetists involved were informative and when I came round, the member of staff in recovery was brilliant.
When I returned to ward 16 rather sleepy due to the pain relief, the nursing staff checked me constantly day and Night.
I can honestly say from the minute I arrived through to the care given on ward 16 to my departure, the staff here are exceptional. They are caring and considerate. Not once was I left in pain . They monitored constantly. The ward round on shift change over meant all staff came to your bed to meet and discuss progress before their shift started. An excellent staff change over I thought.
I can not fault my experience at the Alex.
My new knee has also been briliant and is recovering very well with a nice bend after just a few weeks.
Thank you my surgeon, the aneasthetists and all the staff who looked after me on Ward 16.
Thank you!!
