"Audiology Clinic -lack of information"

About: St Peter's Centre

I visited the audiology clinic for hearing tests where hearing aids were prescribed and every three months for wax removal. Every time my treatment has been excellent apart for one thing; I was never given information about follow up treatment.appointments for the hearing aid clinic should my hearing deteriorate. Nor was I ever told a reason for the hearing loss or have any investigation to find the cause. It may be age related but I would have felt happier to know it had been investigated and whether anything could be done to improve it. It seems as if they just hand out hearing aids willy nilly without any investigations. It may be that they were satisfied that nothing could be done but I had nothing explained.. Now that my hearing aids are no longer satisfactory I am going to have to phone ( and hope for a call back) to see what can be done. It is extremely difficult to get through on the phone.

When I asked about other aids such as how to access at telephone, i was just handed a catalogue of private companies without any advice.

The clinic that does the wax removal is excellent

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent visit to St Peters Centre Audiology Clinic for hearing tests and wax removal.

It is lovely to hear that you found the care you received from the staff to be excellent.

However, I am sorry that you are never given information about follow up treatment and will ensure your comments are fed back to the senior staff for the Audiology Department.

If you would like to provide us with further information about your experience then we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and using our services.

You can either contact me (Sarah Ridehalgh) on 01254 734471 or by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for commenting and best wishes.
