"Postnatal home visit"

About: Northwick Park Hospital / Maternity

I gave birth in another hospital but due to my post code I was visited by the midwives from Northwick park hospital. The midwife who visited me 5 days after my birth lacked compassion and kindness. She was very abrupt and made me feel very uncomfortable. I did not feel that she had a real interest in my or my baby's wellbeing, they were just going through the motions and filling out the papers. It was also concerning that the midwife wanted to physically examine me without my informed consent and her student carried out a test on my baby without following the correct procedure. They left both me and my mum upset and almost in tears. Thankfully that was the last home visit because I would not let her in my home again.

I am so very sorry to read this. It must have been so upsetting at such a happy time. I have shared your feedback with the team who will discuss it at their regular meeting.

If you would like us to follow this up on your behalf, please contact the PALS team on 0208 869 5118 or LNWH-tr.PALS@nhs.net. We would like to investigate because this is such a long way from how we believe our mothers and their babies should be treated.

Best wishes

Sue
