"Can't speak highly enough of"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Accident and emergency

I explained my symptoms to the paramedic working at my doctor's surrgery and he said I should go to a&e

So he gave me a letter to take straight to there, and told me when I arrived my heart rate was 130, and the lowest it went was 111. That 60-80 is healthy and up to 100 is considered non urgent.

So I went to darent valley and got an echocardiogram, then got sent to the ACU for blood tests (during this time loads of people sat there complaining how long it was taking, even though the sister came through and said sorry about the delay we've been dealing with two very poorly people (which must mean almost dying or dying mustn't it) can't believe they all sit there moaning.

Particularly men!!

So a few hours later a nurse tried to take my blood and couldn't because of my invisible veins, so I waited for a sister to do it. But I asked her to look at the ECG and she did and said it was fine, which was nice. My pulse had gone down to 96 the doc said there's an abnormality in that one of the chambers pumps a tiny faster than the others but its miniscule. I was unsure what he meant so he drew it for me.

So I got the bloods taken and then saw a doc while they waited for the results (there were big delays because of some financial cut I naughtily overheard a consultant say)

Dr did tests to see if I had chest pains in certain places, and sent me for a chest x-ray!! So that came back and I got to see the tiny  extra bone I have! He was drawing pictures for me again, so nice

When the blood test results came back he asked me to do a urine test and said there's blood in my urine and the blood test suggests there's an infection but they can't pinpoint what it is.

At this point I said "look I feel spaced out can you listen to my heart" so he did and said it had become very fast and asked the nurse to do a second ecg and when she did my pulse was 112 lying down and he asked her to do it standing up, and it went back up to 130!! So I was given a drug to slow my heart down. he's given me a prescription for some strong antibiotics. I was allowed to leave when my heart rate reduced. Doc is liaising with my gp re further tests on my heart and for thyroid issues

I detest goingto the Drs, let alone hospital.

Throughout delays due to cutbacks, dreadful situations with poorly patients, constant complaining from other patients the staff were kind friendly informative and amazing. No route has been left unchecked.

I was so well looked after. You're amazing and we are so lucky to have an NHS.
