"My hernia was repaired"

About: Rotherham Hospital / General surgery

I turned up to the day surgery department at 7.15 last Friday, but didn't get into surgery until after 3pm. Now that might sound like a complaint, but it's far from that. I'm due to start radiotherapy on my prostate cancer in the next few weeks, and the hernia was in the way. Despite all the much publicised cancellations, the current flu epidemic, and lack of funding, I was bumped way up the list. It was a long wait, but in those circumstances I was extremely grateful. The whole experience was perfect, every member of staff communicated extremely well, all with great kindness and humour. Well done everyone, and well done the NHS.
