"City delivery suite"

About: City Hospital / Maternity care

After having a difficult last few weeks of my pregnancy with less movement I was booked in to get my induction within 48 hours and I went naturally ironically for the second time around that morning. My midwives daytime and night time were apsolutly phenomenal. Firstly the daytime midwife made me feel at complete ease and made me just go with how I felt than apposed to what she thought... and medically advised when nesessary she was super down to earth and helpful... and the midwife when it was the night switch over was so lovely she helped and advised as I had a very mucusy baby.. putting my mind at ease as my husband had to leave. It was a fantastic birth if only i could of stayed on the delivery suite. With husband in tow. The ward I then had to stay the night on was a little different. Staff were on hand and fantastic for sure but I found the facilities of the bathroom/shower just utter mouldy and did not want to put my toe in let alone shower. There must of been about 12 new mothers and babies to a ward and it was rather stuffy. Horrible experience to say the least as it took away the private ness of bonding as we was woken up to a cleaner that just thought it was acceptable to open the curtains. The ward needs a lot of modernisation and I’m sure I saw a male across from me with the Mom. Not sure if that was fair as I would of done anything to have my husband stay with me on our first night with our second born. Other than that 5***** to staff they were excellent, friendly, lovely, accommodating and just down right down to earth. They do a ridiculously amazing job by helping women welcome their little ones to the world and they don’t get recognised enough for their roles and how much they give and do.. Thankyou for looking after me and helping me have a safe arrival of my little one :)

Dear Chloe, congratulations on the birth of your new baby and thank you for sharing your experience of our care, and also for feedback on our facilities. I am delighted that your experience reflected the amazing care that our wonderful midwifery teams aim to provide. We do endeavour to welcome partners to the ward however with very few side rooms, we are currently unable to extend this to as many new parents as we would like whilst being mindful of each persons’ wishes. I am sorry that this impacted your ward stay; however, when we move to the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital, the modern facilities will cater for more partners to be present overnight whilst not impacting other’s preferences or privacy. I am sorry that the bathrooms were not in the expected condition. This has been escalated to the ward manager to address immediately. Thank you and I wish you and your family well. Rachel Carter, Director of Midwifery.
