"No one answering the phones"

About: Hospital Of St Cross (Rugby)

I was pushed into attending for a DEXA scan, as soon as the apt came through i tried to ring to change the date as i was due to have Radio Therapy.

I also live the other side of Coventry to Rugby, my doctor advised it could be done at Walsgrave, Walsgrave is nearer, Rugby is a four hour round trip on public transport.

I rang the week before Christmas at different times, and the two weeks after Christmas daily to try and cancel. No response, no ansaphone, the phone just rang out, on occaision it was engaged, obviously some one else trying to get through.

I had no option but to turn up, my Husband took the day off work, for which he does not get paid, parking was charged dispite me being a cancer patient.

I did not feel i was treated with digity, the lady doing the scan was lovely and could see how upset i was, even she said that it was unacceptable i could not get through. A horrible horrible experience, one which will not be repeated however much i am pushed into it, i would rather go private and pay for a location and time i choose. I felt bullied into attending.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on NHS Choices about your experience of booking and attending a scan at the Hospital of St Cross.

I was very disappointed to hear that while you were happy with the care you received when you attended for your scan, you were unable to reach someone on the phone, despite trying a number of times, and were not offered a choice of locations which were closer to your home.

This should not have happened.

I would like to sincerely apologise for your experience, and would urge you to contact our Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 028 4203 or email feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk .

By giving us more details of the problems you experienced, we will hopefully be able to improve the experience for other patients.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, we appreciate all comments both positive and negative, as it helps us to better understand our patients’ needs and to continually improve.
