"Breast Cancer identified after mamogram"

About: James Paget University Hospital / General surgery

On the 6th October I attended the mobile scanning unit here in Great Yarmouth. Just over two weeks later I received a letter asking me to attend JPH. I duly attended and undertook another mammogram and scan. Three days later I again attended Broadland Suite. The results were not good but I was greatly impressed by the consultants approach, compassion and sheer professionalism . She immediately made the diagnosis clear and a positive can do attitude.

I have received very clear information from my consultant and the breast care team, undergone a couple of operations the last one on the 11th December 2017 being removal of the left breast.

All through this particular experience at every stage I have received excellent care from all staff, while clearly they are extremely busy and I have not felt just a number but a fellow human being.

This whole experience although not welcome has been positive, I know I will be undergoing more surgery at some stage but confident that I will be in good hands.

Thanks for taking the time to record your comments Penny. I am really glad that our teams have made a difficult situation more bearable and that you have had excellent care. Our staff will be really pleased to see the impact they have had. I hope your future treatment and surgery goes just as well. I will make sure the teams see the comments you have made. Take care.
