"Ideas for the resource centre"

About: Rampton Hospital / National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women

(as the patient),

I am on Emerald  ward A

don’t really go to Nurse led sessions on DRC (Diamond resource centre) because I usually have other sessions at the same time. It feels like the girls enjoy these Nurse led sessions on DRC. It is good that some people get off the ward and work in groups. When they otherwise would stay on the ward. We also get a chance to chill out together, maybe watching a film.

Sometimes there are not enough staff to take us over to activities on the DRC. So we could do with more staff.

Rampton’s got talent would be a good idea to take part in. Taking part is what is important. Sports on the astro turf in spring and summer would be good as well. It does not get used enough .

It would be good to have a singing teacher who could teach us to sing properly. Also dance and movement sessions would be good.

I feel supported by the DRC staff as if I can talk with them and Trust them . I have a good rapport with them If I have a problem they always try to sort it out for me to the best of their ability obviously

Thank you so much for your posting and thoughts around resources and activities.

As you are probably aware activities have recently been reviewed to ensure less are cancelled and that we can ensure you get to do the therapy required to support your recovery. Please share your ideas with your named nurse and clinical team to enable you to have your individual activity programme reviewed and amended. This will hopefully enable you to attend your treatment programmes identified in your CPA as well as nurse led sessions. I shall also make your ward manager and DRC day care service manager aware of your requests and fantastic ideas.

in regard to recruitment, the hospital with support of patients is working very hard to recruit nurses for the wards. Patients are being offered interviewing training and are fully involved in the selection and recruitment process. all interview panels have patients full participation. as a result you will have seen quite a few nurses starting on your ward in the past year.

Thank you so much for your posting, feedback and great ideas.
