Upon visiting the children's intensive care unit, as an experienced healthcare professional observing, I was dismayed to see a senior intensive care consultant attending patients ( one of whom had an infectious disease) with long sleeves and a watch on. Surely the practice of bare below the elbows applies to all members of staff, no matter how senior. I would have liked to have challenged this staff member on their practice but unfortunately was not able to speak to her away from the patient area. I hope this is addressed as a matter of urgency.
