"17 week abortion after pill failed"

About: BPAS Richmond CC/Clinic

I had the abortion pill at 9 weeks 2 days, with bpas in Enfield. I passed what I thought was my pregnancy a few hours later. I found the experance of a miscarriage following the pill horrible and painful and would not recommend it to anyone but it was done and I was relieved. 2 weeks later I done the test provided but it was so faint I couldn’t tell the result. But knowing I had passed large ‘clots’ I was confident it was suscessful. My morning sickness had stopped completely and I felt more myself. 6 weeks later I still hadn’t had a period so done a pregnancy test and was still pregnant, called bpas and they booked me for a scan in Enfield the next day. The nurse was amazing, she quickly realised I was now 16 weeks 5 days pregnant. She kept me calm and reassured me. She explained the risks of continuing with the pregnancy and sat and listened while I talked at her probably not making much sense, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t realised I was still pregnant. She didn’t rush me at all. Once I was ready she arranged me an appointment at Richmond for 4 days later. I was so scared and nervous, I was 17weeks 2days pregnant and couldn’t believe I was willing to abort my baby but knowing the risks following the pill I knew it was the right thing. Every member of staff at Richmond was kind, caring and considerate. Not one made me feel uncomfortable or guilty. The theatre was delayed due to an emergency however the staff kept us informed and apologised a number of times. After theatre the staff took into account every person in the room and always made sure each of us were ok even when very busy, it was past clinic close time yet not one staff member seemed to mind and nobody was rushed at all. The only thing that made my experience harder was the silent protesters outside. Thank you Bpas Enfield and Richmond for getting me through a very hard time,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.

I am sorry that you have experienced a treatment complication, which although can be unfortunately unavoidable, can be extremely distressing.

It is great to hear that you were appropriately cared for and supported and I do hope that you are now well.

I am aware that the BPAS press team are doing a lot of work regarding protesters.

Please do read the updates on our website, the following link to one being particularly interesting as it relates to Ealing: https://www.bpas.org/about-our-charity/press-office/press-releases/ealing-council-one-step-closer-to-introducing-a-buffer-zone/

Kind regards, Pam Field, BPAS Client Engagement Manager (email: clientservices@bpas.org).
