I was recently admitted as a day patientin the morning. Slight communication breakdown initially as letter stated 10am admittance, but having spoke to Ward Clerk and left a message on Cardiac Aryhtmia Nurse answer machine; I was told I was going to be put on 8am admission (due to cancellation of my procedure on just over a week earlier).
Duly turned up at 8am, however I was apparetnly still on the later admission time. Staff did their utmost to ensure I was on the theatre list on the morning, which was great as the team went to so much trouble.
On both occassions, staff were amazing, so friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble. I was so relieved my operation was a success. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Dr Boullin and the Cardiac Intervention team for their professionalism, patient rapport and communication. I had been incredibly worried about the operation due to a similar operation I'd had many years earlier somewhere else which was a disaster. This had left me rather nervous, however during the procedure I was well looked after and informed every step of the way. It was totally painless and I had worried for all those years.
Now I do not have a heart condition and am so grateful to all of the Cardiac Dept, as I know they were very busy with the winter pressures- but they all had a smile on their faces and the Nurses were so friendly and helpful.
Thank goodness for the NHS and all the staff who work in the hospital.
