Unfortunately I fell whist ice skating on New Year’s Eve. I attended the A/E department at RUH. It was mid afternoon, and the waiting room was full. I was happy to wait my turn, but was in a great deal of pain. I requested pain relief twice, and was seen shortly afterwards. A couple of less than sympathetic remarks were made by the admitting nurse, but I was given analgesia quickly. From then on my treatment was excellent. I had an X-ray, reduction of the fracture, plaster cast, and repeat X-ray, and was discharged home, all within three hours.
I would like to thank the emergency department for their efficient, professional service. Due to where I live, I was then transferred to Swindon hospital where my treatment has been equally great.
I cannot understand how people can complain about our wonderful NHS. It is overstretched, and underfunded, but the staff who work in it, are absolutely fantastic.
Thank you once again
