On feeling something in my abdomen I visited my GP at Doune Surgery who sent me for an ultrasound scan in Stirling. The report from this lead to a visit to Dr McQueen at Forth Valley Royal Gynaecology where further investigation and CT Scan confirmed that I had what was a suspected cyst on my right ovary, although this was not considered sinister.
I was admitted for surgery. Initial keyhole surgery investigation revealed that my suspected ovarian cyst was in fact a swollen appendix which was removed and subsequent analysis revealed that this was a straightforward case of inflammation.
We have heard so much criticism of our NHS that I want to say that from my initial GP visit I had the very best of care. The understanding of how I was feeling and the full explanation of my diagnosis and the surgical process was thorough and kept me reassured at all times.
All the staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital from Secretaries, Nursing Assistants, Consultants, Anaesthetist and Surgeons were fantastic. Special thanks to Dr McQueen, Dr Sewnauth, Mr Rodger and the staff at The Day Care Ward where my surgery and after care was provided.
Eight weeks later, I am fully recovered and am back to playing badminton bowls etc.
"I am fully recovered and am back to playing badminton"
