About: Russells Hall Hospital

After contacting my doctors and no appointments were available, l contacted 111 who suggested l needed to see a doctor and should go to the walk in centre at russells hall.

I felt so ill and was in so much pain l reluctantly decided to go.

I arrived at 1.15 then had to walk half way round the hospital to get to the unit, checking in at 1.30. There was no seating available and l was told there was a three hour wait, eventually the receptionist bought some chairs out.

After waiting two and a half hours l was told l had a further two hour wait! I could not face sitting there any longer and left.

On a previous occasion when attending with my husband l noted thst the doctors were seeing an average of three patients per hour! Patients would be with them for five to ten minutes then there would be a wait of twenty minutes plus before calling another patient in.

Today, while l waited, the receptionist rang a doctor to check if he was free, it then transpired he was but had failed to call anybody in. This is just not good enough. My GP see six patients an hour. People are ill, young children and babies crying. I feel this really needs to be looked into, nobody should have to wait nearly five hours to see a doctor.
