Having had to make use of not only our local Athol Medical Practice but also our paramedics whose emergency vehicle/s are based at the Pitlochry Community Hospital, I cannot praise highly enough the staff concerned. At a time of year when the NHS is even busier than usual, the highly committed professionals we dealt with were wonderful. They were calm, supportive, willing to listen and, when necessary, provided the care and treatment required. We are so lucky to have an ambulance and dedicated crew members based in Pitlochry and this is a service which we must hold onto.
Considering the bad media press which our NHS receives on an almost daily basis, it is time that some members of the general public realised how lucky we are to have such a service. One has only to look at Europe, let alone further afield, to grasp the consequences of such a loss. There is no doubt that there are management and resource issues within the NHS as a whole but it is time that those working 'at ground level' were given the praise they deserve.
