"Pharmacy at Ormskirk Hospital"

About: Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

(as the patient),

I visited the Pharmacy department following an appointment in Outpatients to collect some medication. Although the pharmacy staff were visible, no one came to attend to patients until a bell was rung, this was despite a queue forming. My prescription was taken from me and I was asked to sit in the wating room until the drug had been dispensed.

Whilst I was waiting I observed what I would say was poor customer care from some of the staff, they all seemed miserable and fed up. There was no friendly greeting for any of their customers, I personally felt as though we were a nuisance disturbing their busy day. At least three consecutive people were sent away because the pharmacy did not have the correct medication in stock.

I then witnessed a mother of a young child being told there were no Epi pens in stock for her daughter. She was understandably worried however the gentleman who served her did not appear at all bothered or concerned. The mother was so frustrated with the lack of help that she attempted to contact her GP before the gentleman attempted to sort out the situation.

I was then called (after 15 mins) to collect my prescription to be told it was out of stock and I would be telephoned to return to the hospital to collect. As I am writing, five days later I still have received no phone call!
