Most of us will have had some experience of what we perceive to be a snooty doctor’s receptionist who blocks your attempts to get an appointment. This has never been the case, here. On several occasions over the years, my sons have lost their medication for asthma or have run out just before going on holiday and there has never been a problem getting an immediate prescription.
Yesterday (Friday at 5.30pm), I was issued with urgent medication for my eyes. The optician told me that it was highly unlikely that I would be able to get my prescription before Monday, or even later as it takes 2-3 days for the prescription to be signed. I phoned FGP and the receptionist advised me to fax through the prescription and she would see if a doctor was available. I rang back after 10 minutes and the prescription had already been signed and sent down to the pharmacy for collection. Excellent service!
Just to add - the service from the doctors and nurses has always been noteworthy - detailed explanations and quick referrals.
I have been a patient for approx. 9 years.
