"Herniated disc in lower back"

I'm 29 years old and I injured my lower back around 12 months ago. I thought it was just a pulled muscle. Several weeks went by and it did not get better. I did the classic male thing of "I'm sure it will get better soon..." but it did not get better. It got a lot worse to the point I could not put my new born son in his crib, mow the lawn or even bend over in the morning to put socks on.

I got referred to the Warwickshire Physio dept and managed to get my first appointment booked in within a few weeks. During my session the physiotherapist I was with took me through various exercises/positions to try and see where exactly the pain was coming from and what was causing it. She asked me various questions rating the pain and discomfort. She asked my opinion several times as we went through and she was very willing to listen. We came together to get a 2x daily routine for me to complete at home and some for my desk at work.

After 4 weeks I went back for a progress check-up and all was much improved, flexibility was much better and pain was down dramatically. I said I had a few issues with one of the positions and she showed me how to do it correctly as I had lost the correct form. I was sent away happy being asked to keep up the exercises and if I have any more issues to come straight back.

It's now been a couple of months since that last appointment and my back is at near original health, continuing to improve daily. I have no more sharp pains, very little aching and my flexibility is back to 100%. I can complete my normal day-today tasks with ease and I've gone back to doing deadlifts and squats which I had to completely stop doing prior as a result the pain.

All-in-all my physiotherapist was very friendly and knew exactly what she was doing. I was seen on time on both occasions and the end result is exactly what I would have hoped for.
