"90 year old dad in A&E after falling and not..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

The A&E department was very busy and the hospital trolleys started to back up with a two and half hour wait showing on the information screen, but the staff did a great job under difficult overcrowding and still found time to smile and talk to dad when he kept putting is flat cap over his face saying he was in Cyprus and keeping the sun off his face.

The doctor who did the examination was patient and was gentle as he did his job.

After a night on a ward and with dad waving at the nurses on his way home, I could only think

we must protect the NHS.

It is very good of you to take the in to get in touch with us. Our services – like the wider NHS – have been incredibly pressured since Christmas, regrettably at times resulting in long waits and overcrowding in our Emergency Department.

Our staff have worked incredibly hard to keep our patients safe. I’m very proud of them all and to be part of this superb team. I’ve shared your kind words with the team. Wishing your father a full and swift recovery.

Kind regards

Jane Newton

Matron, Emergency Department
