Was admitted to AMU via A&E on Friday 29th December having been brought in by ambulance for breathing and urinary problems. Existing conditions following a stroke resulted in a plethora of tests, x rays and samples analysis. The staff were extremely busy but appeared to be working collectively as a team and I have nothing but admiration for their abilities to work in such demanding conditions. I was eventually admitted to AMU Room 39 where care and concern from staff was the norm, despite them being under constant pressure. The highlight for me was the way in which everyone pulled together most ably demonstrated on New Years Day when the ovens broke down and the nurses and domestic staff provided a meals service despite the difficulties. I was moved in the early hours of 2nd January to Ward 2 Bedroom 4 where the care continued. I was finally discharged the same day and, whilst I was still disorientated from the Sepsis and medication, probably made a nuisance of myself and for which I would apologise. I could not have asked for better care, given the circumstances and, despite persistent news coverage elsewhere to the contrary, would congratulate all staff on their dedication to getting me well enough to return home.
