"Emergency admission"

Just before Christmas I was unfortunate enough to have been bitten by a cat! From the moment I contacted my GP to the end of my journey, being discharged from the dressings clinic I have had an absolutely superb service from NUH.  

Every doctor, nurse and hospital staff have come into contact with have been polite, professional and caring. Although in the scheme of things my emergency may not have seemed initially serious but things progressed rapidly to the point I became an emergency and I for one am very grateful to every person I came into contact along the way who treated me and undoubtedly saved my live.

Special mentions have to go to the ward manger (Debbie) on Patience 2 ward who took no prisoners in her no nonsense method of nursing but who was able to make good nursing judgements when necessary and at the same time provided a balanced realism to my situation.

I also wanted to mention not only the doctors and nurses but the meal time lady on Patience 2 ward who said little but smiled and was always helpful in trying to tempt back my appetite. Nothing was too much trouble, I appreciated her warm friendly smile and that she never passed judgements or made comments about my lack of eating and drinking when I was at my poorliest.

And one other special mention must go to the dressings clinic at Gillies ward a truly efficient professional and  brilliant service, that link in with the physiotherapists, it runs like clockwork and appears like a seamless service.

I am happy to report I am well on the road to recovery thanks to the wonderful service of the NUH and I for one am very grateful and thankful for our precious NHS that must be protected at all costs.
