"Just so sad."

About: The Laurels Surgery

What is so sad about this is to read so many review saying the same thing over and over again - and just a repeated auto response from the surgery. I joined this surgery 3 years ago and could not have been more impressed - they were professional, prompt, kind and you could get an appointment. I can understand the challenges of an aging population and a need to move with the times and adopt appointment systems which work better for the volumes they must have. BUT the changes they have made simply do not work at all and it feels like no one is listening to this, it isn't working and it must be stopped before there are terrible consequences, it is an accident waiting to happen.

You can not get an appointment, it is just no longer possible. I needed an appointment for my son last week and I was on hold 1 hour and 40 minutes (which is standard now) and eventually go through to the rudest receptionist I have ever encountered, to be told I needed to call back for an appointment the next day - she couldn't have cared less that I had been on hold for that amount of time, in any other industry you would be sacked on the spot if you treated customer that way. I ran out of prescription for my contraceptive pill a week ago and have to date called 57 times to try and get an appointment to see a nurse and been anything up to number 18 in a queue - I have been on hold for hours and cut off more times than I can remember - so essentially I can no longer access any health care and there's just no alternative - I have no prescription, they wont take repeat requests over the phone, the online system doesn't work and you quite literally can not get through by phone.

As always when you do manage to see a Dr the quality is great, they are brilliant - but I challenge anyone to get though in less than an hour and I feel so very sorry for anyone who uses this surgery and has a poorly child who needs attention quickly - I would imagine A&E would be quicker.

The reception staff need to change or to leave, it isn't fair to treat patients with such distain, we are your customers.

I hope very much someone takes notice soon and brings this surgery back to how it used to be.
