"Endoscopy"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

I attended the Endoscopy department yesterday for the procedure and of course was scared and had decided to be sedated. The nurse who booked me in suggested throat spray instead to numb it. She explained the procedure only took 3-5 minutes, and then l could go home. Otherwise l would be there for upto 3 hours. I took the plunge. So glad l did. The nurses and technician in the treatment room were delightful. Kind, caring and above all jovial. They talked me through each step, calming me down while doing the procedure and it was all over in 4 minutes.

The recovery nurse was also so nice and l only had to wait 5 minutes for the results and l was discharged. All in all l was back home within an hour and a half.

No one likes having these tests but the staff in this department are really caring.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience in the Endoscopy Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. We were so pleased to read that you had been reassured by the staff during what can be quite a daunting procedure and that they communicated to you throughout your stay. We will pass on your kind comments to the Matron for the unit to share with all the staff. With kind regards, the PALS team.
