"Professional care by caring staff at Tameside"

I collapsed from blood loss in Glossop, fortunately I was at the clinic. The staff were fantastic.

The ambulance crew, paramedics were thorough and caring. A & E - I couldn't have had better attention delivered in less than conducive conditions, a revamp taking place. Once stabilised I went to W5, about 3am.

From then to leaving, almost 36 hours later, I have had professional care in spotless conditions by very caring staff. I felt they were stretched at times, particularly A & E. I saw maybe 10 doctors, varying opinions were confusing.

Please don't let staff bring internal grievances to the ward, it's not what patients wish to hear.

Thank you for posting these comments – you must have had a very frightening experience, and I do hope you are feeling much better now. I am so pleased to hear that you had such good care in the A&E department at Tameside Hospital – it is undergoing a major refurbishment at the moment, as you allude to here.

I am also delighted to note that, having left the department you had professional care in spotless surroundings on ward 5.

Your email also raises a couple of issues – firstly, without knowing your circumstances I cannot comment with authority, but several doctors can be involved in assessing patients whilst in A&E, because doctors of different levels of seniority and from a number of clinical specialties may need to examine the patient. I also agree that staff should keep their grievances, if they have any, out of the earshot of patients and visitors.

I will ensure that all of your comments are brought to the attention of the staff concerned.
