During the last months of my fathers life I had call to call the out of hours service several times. My father was very elderly and chronically ill so when he became sick he couldn't wait till after the weekend or until his GP surgery opened. And not once was there a problem from the person who took my call through to the doctors themselves. One doctor came in the snow on icy roads and even gave dad some antibiotics so I wouldn't have to drive to the duty chemist!! . . You hear a lot of negative things about the out of hours service - but Stevenages is excellent. '
