"Cannot be described as anything but life saving"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Skye Unit (Glasgow Adolescent Inpatient Unit)

(as the patient),

I was an inpatient (about 4 years ago now) for two and a half years over two admissions in Skye House for my eating disorder, suicide attempts and self harm.

4 years later I can confidently say that if it wasn’t for ALL the staff and the therapies they offer I would not be here today. They changed my whole perspective on life, reminded me that I deserve a better life and did not give up on me until I was ready to be discharged.

For someone who had nearly 8 years of mental health input in my life, i now have zero and I work full time and live on my own. And I owe it all to the staff at Skye house.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for making me see a future when I could not.

There needs to be more places like Skye house for adolescents, that’s about the only negative thing I would say. Thanks again.
