Ended up on Ward 6 having come through A&E 27/12/17 8 hours from presenting at A&E to admission on Acute Medical Unit (AMU), then to Ward 6 on 28/12/17.
All hands were on deck at A&E I was looked after by a nursing director who was providing hands on cover - he was brilliant and clearly thriving being back on the shop floor.
Some of those waiting in A&E could have used Pharmacy or other services there appeared to be education needs for people in what constitutes an emergency.... AMU appeared well staffed although busy.
Ward 6 extremely busy - all staff worked really well together and I witnessed many moments of kindness and compassion towards some very poorly and on occasion difficult patients.
I felt fully involved in my care and appreciated the patience of staff when owing to feeling really tired and unwell I was grumpy.
Those people in government who make NHS workforce decisions need to appreciate how hard the staff work, how committed they are and that one day goodwill will be empty!
Well done UHND for getting me through a nasty episode.
