"minor surgery"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

The sister in charge at Boothroyd centre after the minor ear surgery was unempathetic and showed a lack of compassion, not the behaviour you would expect from someone in a higher role. The sister seemed more concerned about trying to discharge us and directly insinuating that we needed to hurry up and not giving time for the child to finish their food. Also, was quite rude when I raised the concern that the child was still bleeding after the cannula had been removed which was dripping from their hand and blamed this on the child who is two years old that they were moving around too much whilst she was removing the cannula.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and I am sorry to read of your experience.

I am disappointed to read that you feel your child's care has not been acceptable and that you felt you were being dismissed.

This is not the standard of care we would expect and I am sorry to have read this feedback based on your experience.

I wonder if you would like to contact our PALS team to discuss your concerns further.

They can be contacted on 01924 542972 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm) or via email on pals@midyorks.nhs.uk.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
