"Poor reception in St Mary's A&E"

About: st marys hospital, Paddington, London

(as the patient),

I arrived at A&E in St Mary's, Paddington, around 8.30am a few days ago with terrible pain from kidney stones. I was in agony. There was only one other patient there so I went up to register. The woman ("X") there ignored me for the first minute and then pointed me to sit down and wait to be called (even though she was free). I was moaning with agony and sat down, then went up again as I could see she was free (and the triage nurse was also free). She again just held up her hand (palm pointing towards me) to indicate I was not welcome. The triage nurse (who was great) saw me in pain and asked the lady to register me - she refused and some time later another lady arrived and did register me (It took 10 seconds) so then I could see the nurse.

I asked the nurse what had happened and she said that the woman X was staying late because her manager repeatedly turns up late and had shown up late again. This was why the lady was so rude. I would like someone to tackle the manager who was late.

As an aside, a very patient IT man (from St Marys) arrived after me and asked X for the duty manager. X told him there was no duty manager and so he waited until her manager arrived.
