I had my first son at Sunderland royal hospital. It was a stressful pregnancy from the start, after a bleed I met the lovely team at the epu as I went for a scan. I then also met alot of the doctors, nurses and consultants as baby was deemed high risk or down's sydrome at my 12 week scan and I was also told I had gestational diabetes.
I had regular appointments and scans throughout my pregnancy and also appointments with the consultant and regular monitoring from 30 weeks. I was induced at 38 weeks and the whole team we're brilliant.
I had my second son the following year at the same hospital and was so pleased to see the familiar faces of the team that helped me so much the first time round as I had another pregnancy that wasn't straight forward and also had gestational diabetes again. After going in at 36 weeks for another episode of reduced movements they decided it was safer to induce me early. My son was born and as he was slightly premature needed to spend a week in the neonatal ward as his lungs were immature.
I can't thank all of the staff enough for all of their help and for keeping me calm and sane during this time. I will definitely be using this hospital again if I have any more children as I can't fault them at all.
