"Feedback about a visit to A&E"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

I visited A&E with my 2 year old grandson and his mother on Christmas night at about 9.15pm. My grandson had had a fall & had hit his head, causing a big lump & bruising, so we wanted reassurance that all was well.

We were seen straight away at Reception, where his details were taken straight away & we were advised to go through to Children's A&E. Again the service was very prompt & he was seen by a doctor within minutes.

The doctor examined him & reassured us that there was no cause for concern. The doctor's manner was very caring but thorough & he had a child friendly manner which was relaxed & entirely appropriate. He was happy to answer our questions & was very reassuring.

I realise that we were very lucky that there was not a huge demand for Children's A&E services at that time, but I can not praise enough the care, attention & prompt service my grandson received.

I would like to express my gratitude & appreciation of all those involved. Also we greatly value the positive difference it makes to have children's A&E separated from the adult service.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write about your positive experience when attending the Children's ED with your grandson. We are pleased to hear that he was seen promptly , that all was well, and that the doctor who reviewed him was able to put him at his ease. We will certainly pass on your great feedback to the team.
