"Antenatal and Postnatal care"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Maternity

I was cared for by the midwives in solihull antenatally and postnatally but thankfully chose to deliver at warwick hospital. I cant fault the antenatal care however postnatally I have been far from happy with the care ive received... being a health professional myself I feel that ive been left to fend for myself with the excuse of the snow. I went home from warwick on the saturday and wasnt seen until the tuesday and this was because i basically begged them to come and visit me... now today I was due a visit for my son to get weighed however it snowed again so now ive been fobbed off that the visit was down for thursday pm not wednesday am when I purposefully put it in my diary as i wasnt sure which address I was going to be at so i could let the midwife know where to come... i cannot wait to be discharged from the service as feel ive been forgotten more than remember... i had an extremely traumatic first 3/4 days due to tongue tie (i diagnosed myself) extremely hard breastfeeding experience and zero sleep due to the same... he lost nearly 12% from his birth weight by day 7... plus being post section and dont feel like ive had the support a normal postnatal lady would receive having all these problems to deal with!

Dear Anonymous,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

I am very sorry to learn of your experience regarding your postnatal care and your experience following the birth of your son and that you feel you have not received the support that s normal postnatal lady would receive; this is certainly not how we would wish one of our patients to feel.

If you would be willing to provide further details such as your name, address and date of birth, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to review your care.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your NHS Choices Posting.

I will forward your posting to the relevant senior teams and highlight to them your experience.

I will ask that the posting is shared with the staff, so they are also aware of your experience.

Once again thank you for taking the time to provide your comments, as all patient feedback is very important to us whether it is positive or negative, as this helps the Trust to improve our services and make changes where necessary

Regards

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
