I posted several months ago about my problems with PTSD. I thought I would update. I moved to another town and contacted MIND for advice.
Disappointingly Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust did not respond in any way to my last story.
I was rereferred to the Trust for treatment but once again was told I was too depressed to be treated and was discharged.
Mind gave me information on reputable private therapists and I began treatment a couple of months ago. I was assessed as being too depressed to be treated for PTSD but was started on treatment for just the depression. What a difference in me now. I have had 8 sessions of CBT and my depression is so much better. I am shortly going to start treatment for the PTSD.
I am thankful to Mind for their advice but can't help but wonder why the Trust cannot treat depression.
The private psychologist I see now has pointed out that NICE states that if you are too depressed to be treated for PTSD the depression should be treated first. NICE also states you need to be seen weekly - the Trust only offer fortnightly appointments and often appointments are much further apart - 5 and 6 weeks between appointments is not unusual.
I feel let down by the NHS but now at last feel I am getting somewhere with treatment even if I am having to pay for it.
