"Old'uns not cared for ? Rubbish from my experience!"

About: Queen's Hospital / Breast surgery

(as a relative),

My Mum aged 88 was diagnosed with breast cancer about 12months ago.

After visits to Victoria Hospital Romford, where the team was nothing but caring and helpful we had great confidence in what they do and say.

Unfortunately after drugs (my mum didn't want to be messed about anymore) that may have helped the non life threatening version were shown not to work because of non compatibility with drugs she was taking for other complaints, the decision was made by my mother to have a mastectomy.

This took place in very short time at Queens Hospital Romford, during that time she was cared for by the nursing team to well above our expectations and was soon home with full recovery.

Soon after, the team at Victoria Hospital were effectively at the end of the telephone for almost immediate assistance to my mum for draining the wound following the removal of the lymph glands.

A great deal of trouble and care for an old'un was and still is being experienced, so lets start giving the good stories out rather than those bad stories where the minority of loud shouters seem to get the publicity!

Well done the NHS cancer carers of Romford at Victoria Hospital.
