"Fit for Work Scotland"

I was recently referred for a fit for work assessment by my GP as I have a respiratory condition that is aggravated by exposure to the workplace environment.

Although I did not receive the official assessment call back, I contacted the fit for work service 10 days after the GP referral  and was advised that I did not meet the criteria for a Fit for Work assessment and was told to contact Working Health Services Scotland who also said that I did not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

On reviewing the guidelines on assessment referrals I appear to fulfil all the requirements as detailed on the information packs but cannot understand why I do not according to Fit for Work Scotland.

I have worked for over 42 years and would very much like to continue, but unless an occupational health assessment is undertaken to identify the workplace issues the alternative is that I will end up on long-term sick leave with no expectations of returning to work

So generally the Fit for Work Scotland service is not working and any assistance to resolution would be gratefully appreciated
