"First class service"

After being sent to the Surgical assesment unit I was duly seen by a nurse within 40 minutes, over the next few hours I was seen by a doctor twice who advised id need surgery under a general Anaesthetic late that day. I was then made ready and placed in the surgery day care ward.

Unfortunatly after a few hour it became clear that due to urgent cases that had been brought in later in the day i'd not get the surgery that afternoon, which is fair enough, sometimes there are more important things in life for other people and because the staff on the unit were good enough to keep me updated I was happy to be sent home and was told to be back in the surgery unit at 7.30 the next morning.

I duly arrived back the next morning and was prepared and ready to go, within 90 minutes I was on the operating table and 30 minutes later on the recovery ward prior to being placed in the discharge unit for release later in the day.

Every single member of staff were superb, they are under immense stress to keep things rolling along and even when it became tight, they still had a smile and created an atmosphere where you could actually relax.

It is hard to identify just individuals as the whole system is run as a team effort but I would like to pay particular thanks to the staff on the Meldon unit who deal with patients for operations, they were brilliant, the sister and her staff were just so on the ball and even when things got difficult they just kept going.

In summary, they all do the best they can, it is a busy hospital and deals with massive amounts, they may not be able to do everything to specific time slots at times but they do what they do wonderfully and they sort out problems. I cannot praise them all enough for the service they gave me. Thank you all very much indeed and merry christmas to you all.
