I attended MAU with a severe headache at 41 weeks pregnant.
After 30 minutes of arriving they discovered I had preeclampsia. A doctor arrived and explained they needed to get my baby out.
Me and my husband were shocked and scared by this but the doctor did everything to alleviate our fears.
I was moved to the Labour ward and induced. I was kept informed of every decision and they included my husband in this.
My baby was back to back and this proved to be a long and painful labour.
I was looked after by the amazing midwives who delivered my little boy. This was due to my long labour with shift changes.
Yes there was complications e.g. epidural took 5 attempts but this was no one's fault.
The care I recieved was first class. The care, compassion and brilliant sense of humour from all 3 got me through.
I am a member of staff at the Lgh so I already know we are a fab hospital but I had no idea the dedication and hard work these midwives do.
I cried while being discharged because the kindness and support I was shown was overwhelming.
A special mention to the student midwives who helped me with breast feeding. One stayed with me for an hour at 3am because my baby wasn't latching correctly.
A massive thank you to all involved in my care.
"A credit to their profession."
