"Poor service"

About: Pathfields Medical Group

I waited 6 weeks for an appointment and ended up with a different doctor than had been arranged. This doctor told me I had varicose veins and would need compression stockings. I went to the pharmacy to get some only to be told that they are made to measure. The doctor had said nothing about this when I had the consultation,so then I had to make an appointment to see a nurse and be measured,i eventually got a prescription and took it to the pharmacy and got the stockings. The time it took to get the stockings after seeing the doctor was about 9 weeks, add the 6 weeks it took to get the appointment and it all ends up as really poor service. I am sorry to say that it was no surprise to me as the practice has gone to the dogs and getting to actually see a doctor has become an absolute nightmare.

Please accept our apologies for not referring you directly to the nurse in the first instance for measurements for your stocking fit - this was clearly an oversight by the doctor who saw you so our apologies for this.

In term sof the timing of your appointment we would love to have the resources to see you sooner but with a very limited budget and not enough doctors and nurses to go around (estimates are that Plymouth is 25-30 GPs short of where we would all like to be) waiting times across the system are now many weeks for non urgent matters.

We do however have held appointments for urgent issues and many of our triage calls result in on the day appointments when we cannot solve issues over the phone.

These longer waits for routine appointments merely reflect the pressure the NHS is under.

The only way to change this is to vote for change or pressure your MP into increasing NHS funding.
