"Left feeling uncared for"

About: Cleckheaton Group Practice

I've been with this surgery for about 13 years, they've been ok in the past but for the last 6 years or so they've become uncaring and unhelpful.

After a serious stay in hospital I visited one of the doctors telling them I had a migraine, they laughed and told me I didn't. It took a further three years for them to refer me to a neurologist. When referals go through my medical records are never shared so the consultants have no idea why I'm there. Thus wasting everyone's time. I've had 2 MRI's to determine why I suffer chronic migraines and both times only sinus swellings showed. 1st time I was given steroid drops which made things worse and 2nd I wasn't treated for sinusitis at all. Even the scan results weren't sent to the consultants.

I needed to see my doctor after my migraines became worse but was told I'd have to wait 4 weeks for an appointment or to go for the urgent access clinic.

I visited the urgent access clinic this morning. After telling the dr my migraines were worse they upped some medication I'm on. I told them I have quite bad earache and sinusitis issues too (I'm aware the two are connected) The doctor didn't check my ears, nor want to help any further when i told them sprays and drops in my nose don't work for me. The doctor simply told me "sorry if you feel rushed but this is an emergency appointment and I've got others to see". I was barely in there for 3 minutes, I had tears in my eyes. I was in accute pain and i was made to feel like i wasn't worth their time.

I fully understand others need to be seen etc but surely each patient should still be treated properly.

I'll be looking at changing doctors as soon as possible and certainly do not recommend them to anyone!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry that you felt uncared for and that your appointment was rushed. The Urgent Access clinic is intended for urgent problems that cannot wait until a routine appointment is available. I can confirm that there is not a 4 week wait for a routine appointment. However please be mindful that the surgery is closed for 3 bank holidays for Christmas and New Year.

Due to patient confidentiality I am unable to discuss this matter with you further on here, however I would very much appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you and would be grateful if you could please contact me on 01274 957846.

Kind regards, Emma Marshall, Practice Manager.
